Aashiq Abu to bring Munnar strike to silver screens

The latest sensational news which really invited the attention of each and every malayali is the strike that occurred in Munnar. The strike was organized by the tea plantation workers in Munnar for a hike in their salary. Many people called it as the Jasmine Revolution. The strike was a great success and it is regarded as one of the greatest strikes and success made by the plantation workers unity in Kerala.

The strike was lead by women workers in the plantation and they won it without the support of any political parties and trade unions. That makes the success even more sweeter and the revolution even more powerful. Now as per the latest news director Aashiq Abu is now all set to make it as the subject of his next film and soon we will see the epic Munnar plantation strike on the silver screens of Kerala.

The strike had started without the support of political parties and trade unions as we said above. But when the strike got public attention and public support, political parties and trade union came to support them. But the women who lead the strike denied all that support and in fact they only gave their respect for V S Achuthanandan when he came there to support and stand with them. They even discarded the ministers who came there and that made the strike more fierce and at last government had to yield before the plantation workers and before the power of women association.

As per reports the pre- production works of the film based on this has started already which will be directed by Aashiq Abu. The details of the cast and crew of this film is not yet revealed. Aashiq Abu was an active member of Students Federation of India while he was studying in Maharaja’s College Ernakulam. So we can expect a film with all its revolutionary spirit as the director himself is a revolutionary party follower. Aashiq’s film with Manju Warrier and Rima Kallingal named Rani Padmini will release by October 23rd in theaters across Kerala.
