Anu Sithara joins the sets of Maamaankam
Amidst all the controversies related to the ousting of director Sajeev Pillai and his team of technicians, shoot for ‘Maamaankam’ has resumed. The makers have reportedly gone for a complete overhaul on the cast and crew. M Padmakumar is the new director and Unni Mukundan has replaced Druvan. Latest to join the cast is Anu Sithara, who has been signed to play one of the female leads.
Last day, the actress posted a photo from then movie’s sets in her social media handle. Earlier, a few non-Malayali heroines, including Bollywood actors Prachi Desai and and Prachi Tehlan were roped in for the movie but after the brief shelving and revamp in the cast, it is not known if they are still part of the movie.
‘Maamaankam’ scripted by Sajeev Pillai is based on the medieval fair, Maamaankam, where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays the lead role of a ferocious ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.
Venu Kunnappilly of Kavya Films is producing the movie. According to the makers, they will be trying to wrap up the shoot as early as possible and will release the movie by the end of this year itself.
