Anurag Kashyap reveals that Dhanush was the first choice for Raman Raghav 2.0
Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has always been open about his love for South Indian actors and films. For instance, the title card of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, his most acclaimed film, had a mention about the Madurai triumvirate – Bala, Ameer and Sasikumar. Kashyap credited these directors for inspiring him to get back to his roots and tell stories of his homeland.
He has also spoken about his admiration for Thiagaraja Kumararaja, Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi, Selvaraghavan etc. In a recent interview, Kashyap revealed that Dhanush was his initial choice for the movie ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’. He added that even narrated the script to the star but it didn’t work out due to various reasons. The film was later made with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vicky Kaushal playing the leads.
Kashyap also revealed that he had planned to do a film with Vijay Sethupathi but because of the delay, it couldn’t materialise. They later collaborated in the Tamil film ‘Imaikka Nodigal’. Vijay Sethupathi played an extended cameo role in it and Kashyap essayed a grey-shaded character.
