Baahubali 2 opens to phenomenal response in Pakistan
SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion continues to garner outstanding response from across the globe. After raking in over 1000 crores from the box office worldwide, Baahubali 2 has finally been released in Pakistan.
The Pakistani censor board (PCB) officials were initially apprehensive about releasing the movie in their country due to the mythology and Hindu tradition. But they decided against it and Baahubali 2 was passed without a single cut as the PCB did not find anything objectionable in the film.
Incidentally, Baahubali 2 is the first ever dubbed regional film to have a release in Pakistan. The film is running to packed houses in over 100 screens across the country.
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, veteran Pakistani distributor Amjad Rasheed was quoted as saying, “The film has especially got a huge response in single screens, even though it purports mythology and Hindu tradition to a certain extent.”
According to trade analysts, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is expected to mint over 6 crore Pakistani rupees at the box office. It is worth a mention that several Bollywood films in the recent past have been banned in Pakistan mainly after the URI attacks.
One of Indian cinema’s biggest blockbusters, Dangal did not have a theatrical release in Pakistan. The censor board officials had asked to chop off the national anthem and flag hoisting scenes. Aamir Khan did not agree to that and opted not to to release Dangal in Pakistan.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, meanwhile continues to mint crores from the box office. The movie is already the highest grossing Indian movie and is now nearing the Rs 1500 crore mark.
