Mammooty's Big B returns to the silver screens this year

Mammootty’s ome of the famous and stylish character Big B aka Bilan John Kurishinkal is all set to return to the silver screens this year. But not in a new flick but re-release of the film only for one day to celebrate Mammootty’s 64th birthday. His birthday is actually on September 7th but the show was planned on September 6th as it was Sunday and fans can come and watch the special show. September 7 is a working day and putting the show on that date may reduce the number of audience comes to watch the special show of the film. The show will be at Cherthala Paradise Theater on that day at 9.30 am in the Morning.

Big B is undoubtedly one of the most stylish character Mollywood had ever seen and it was the directorial debut film of cinematographer Amal Neerad. It was released during the Vishu season of 2007 along with Mohanlal starrer Anwar Rasheed film Chotta Mumbai, Sathyan Anthikkad directorial Dileep film named Vinoda Yathra and Vinayan directorial children’s film Athisayan. While Chotta Mumbai and Vinoda Yathra ended up as Vishu winners of that season AThisayan ended up as disaster. Big B remained an Average grosser only as it not attracted that much audience at that particular time who expected a colourful complete entertainment and loud heroism of Mammootty.

On the contrary they got a dark-stylized and not so loud action drama from Mammootty and they discarded it. But like many film mini Screen gave it the deserved recognition as it become a trendsetter type film once it had come on mini screen. People loved the film and praised all its technical details and it had attained a cult classic status in the minds of Mammootty fans.

The planning of this special screening was came from Mammootty fans after what they saw what Mohanlal fans has been doing recently. Mohanlal fans had successfully celebrated the 15th anniversary year of the film Narasimham which was an All-time blockbuster and industry hit of Mollywood and was the first film to cross 20 crore rupees in box office of Kerala. Mohanlal fans had successfully screened Narasimham again with houseful shows at Dubai, Payyannur and some other places and also planning to screen it at Thalassery soon as well.

Mohanlal’s classic box office super success Sphadikam also may come to silver screens again as per the director of the film Bhadran himself interested in it along with Mohanlal fans and as per reports its digital version will hit the screens of Kerala.
