Charlie now at the top of the first day collection record list in Malayalam cinema

At last all the hype around film had paid off for Charlie. Even though the film had opened to mixed opinions from common audience and critics, it had created the first day collection in Mollywood breaking the record set by Mohanlal-Renjith film Loham. Loham was the highest collected Malayalam film on its first day. It had collected 2.14 crore from Kerala alone on its first day. It had surpassed the record set by Mohanlal-Roshen Andrews team’s flick Casanovva which earned 2.10 crore in its first day from Kerala. But as per reports Charlie had earned rupees 2.18 + crores from theaters in Kerala and surpassed Loham first day collection record.

Charlie had released near 100 screens in Kerala and had got great opening due to the great anticipation level it raised before the release.Multiplexes contributed handsomely to this collection of Charlie as per reports. The outside Kerala release of the film was today and from January 1st it will be screened outside India as well. Prints outside India will have subtitles as well.

The film starred by Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy is a love story told in a very different way. The highlight of the film apart from the performance of Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy is the screenplay by Unni R and direction by Martin Prakatt. The film had generated great hype from the beginning of its shooting and looks of the characters and their costumes as well become a trend in social media as well. The trailer of the film also got great reception as it created record number of viewers in YouTube as well. In that sense it is expected that Charlie will break the existing first day collection record.

But trade pandit says it will be a short living record as Mohanlal starrer Puli Murugan is coming next year which is expected to create a new history in its opening day collections.
