Director Kabir Khan’s new film, ’83’ based on India’s historic 1983 Cricket World Cup win is one of the most awaited films this year. Ranveer Singh plays the lead role in the film as the legendary Kapil Dev, who was the team’s skipper then. The story narrates Kapil’s journey to become the captain of the India national team and winning the World Cup. ’83’ has a big star cast comprising of actors like Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Jatin Sarna and Harrdy Sandhu among others.
Tamil actor Jiiva is making his Hindi debut with this film. He is essaying the role of former Indian cricket team opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth. His character poster was released by the makers today. Last day, it was revealed that actor Tahir Raj Bhasin plays the role of legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth was one of the most integral players in India’s 80s cricket team. The swashbuckling opener from Tamil Nadu was known for his intimidating style of play. Jiiva seems to be an ideal choice as he has a cricketing background and has played the game in various levels.
