Chinese President Xi Jinping is impressed by Aamir Khan’s Dangal

For the last few weeks, Aamir Khan’s Dangal has been doing some tremendous business in the Chinese box office. The movie has grossed over Rs 1000 crore from the country within a month of it’s release. Chinese people have welcomed the movie with both hands.

The big news is that Chinese President Xi Jinping has watched and liked the film. He told the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi so and also remarked on how well Dangal is doing in China. Both of them are currently in Kazakhstan attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit.

Dangal was released as Shuai Jiao Baba or Let’s Wrestle Father in Chinese. It was released in over 9000 screens in the country on May 5. Ever since then, the movie has been getting phenomenal response from the Chinese audience.

Dangal, directed by Nitish Tiwari is a sports biographical drama . The movie is inspired from the real life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his two daughters to world class wrestlers. Aamir Khan portrayed Mahavir Singh Phogat’s character while Zaira Wasim, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra and Suhani Bhatnagar played his daughter’s parts.

Within a month from it’s release, Dangal created history by earning over Rs 1000 crores at the Chinese box office. It is the 33rd film in Chinese cinema history to cross one Billion RMB, which in Indian currency amounts to about Rs 1000 crore.

Dangal has also earned Rs 36.50 crores in the Taiwanese market, which takes its overseas collections to Rs 1327.50 crores. The film currently stands with a worldwide collection of Rs 1870 crores and is now heading towards the 1900 crore mark. If it manages to cross the 2000 mark, it will be the first ever Indian movie to do so.
