Aamir Khan’s Dangal continues it’s box office hunt in China

Aamir Khan’s Dangal continues to do extraordinary business in the Chinese box office. The movie was released on May 5 in China in over 9000 screens all over the country. Dangal was released as Shuai Jiao Baba or Let’s Wrestle Father in Chinese. It opened to overwhelming response from the audience there.

According to latest reports, this Nitish Tiwari directorial has become the top grossing non-Hollywood film in China by earning $117 million at the box office. It has also emerged as the highest grosser at the overseas box office among Indian films.

China’s popular ticketing website Maoyan confirmed the news. EntGroup, a leading entertainment consultancy group, also reported that the tickets sales of Dangal have crossed 806 million yuan. Aamir Khan enjoys a huge fan base in China as his film PK had also crossed the 100 crore mark in the country.

Dangal has also entered the 1500 crore club, only the second Indian film to do so after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. As per latest figures from trade sources, Dangal has earned Rs 1743 crore worldwide.

Dangal is sports drama inspired from the real life of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his daughters to champions in wrestling. Aamir Khan essayed Mahavir Singh Phogat’s character while Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar played his daughter’s parts. During it’s initial run, the movie shattered several box office records along with garnering widespread critical acclaim.
