Dulquer does films unselfishly; Anther person who has a similar love for cinema is Rana Daggubati: Nag Ashwin

Mahanati, the Telugu biopic on legendary actress Savitri continues to get extraordinary response from the audience. Critics as well as the commoners have unanimously rated it as a ‘must watch’. ‘Yevade Subramaniam’ fame Nag Ashwin has directed this movie which boasts of a huge star cast. Keerthy Suresh plays the role of Savitri while Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan, who is making his Telugu debut, plays late actor Gemini Ganesan in the movie.

In a recent interview, Nag Ashwin was all praise for Dulquer Salmaan and the kind of commitment he shows to his craft. The director finds Dulquer’s unselfish approach similar to Rana Daggubati’s love for cinema.

Nag Ashwin is quoted saying, “Dulquer does films unselfishly. The only other person I know who has a similar love for cinema is Rana Daggubati. Dulquer is juggling so many projects at once, and yet, he didn’t once opt for a fake moustache for his role. It shows his commitment to the character.”

Mahanati follows Savitri’s life from the 1940s to 1980s and features those films she acted with legends from the Telugu and Tamil film industry. Though the movie mostly revolves around Savitri’s life, Dulquer as Gemini Ganesan is one of the principal characters in the movie. Savitri was briefly married to Gemini Ganesan and the movie will shows some lesser known details about their relationship.

Naga Chaitanya, Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha, Prakash Rajendra Prasad, Malavika Nair, Mohan Babu and Shalini Pandey are also part of Mahanati’s star cast. The Tamil (Nadigayar Thilagam) and Malayalam (Mahanadi) versions of the movie have hit screens today (May 11).
