Fahadh Faasil sheds around 15 kilos for Malik

‘Take Off’ director Mahesh Narayanan’s new film, ‘Malik’ is currently on the floors. Anto Joseph Film Company is producing the film, which is being made on a budget of close to Rs 30 crores. Fahadh Faasil plays the lead role and we hear that the actor will be appearing in multiple looks in the film. He has even lost over 15 kilos as his character in the film demanded it.

‘Malik’ scripted by director Mahesh himself is actually based on a real life incident that occurred few years back in Kerala. It is conceived as a political thriller that is centred around a sensitive coastal area where there was a resistance against this constant threat of displacement of a minority community. There was a person who was responsible for making his people rise up.

Fahadh Faasil plays this lead character named Sulaiman, who is actually the leader of the community. His character is actually inspired from a real-life person. The film spans over different timelines from 1960s to the present and hence the different looks for the actor.

Though ‘Malik’ is based on a true incident, director Mahesh is not intending to recreate the exact events but instead it is his interpretation of what actually occurred. The focus will be on the evolution of the coastal area from the 60s to present age.

Along with Fahadh Faasil, the cast also includes Nimisha Sajayan, Dileesh Pothan, Vinay Forrt, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa, Chandhunath and yesteryear actress Jalaja. DOP Sanu John Varughese, composer Sushin Shyam, production desinger Santhosh Raman and sound designers Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar form the core technical team. Besides directing and scripting, Mahesh Narayanan is also editing the film.

Aan Mega Media will be releasing ‘Malik’ in Kerala. The makers are eyeing an April release next year.
