Director SS Rajamouli is basking in the historic success of his Baahubali franchise. He has kick-started a new trend of big budget period movies in Indian cinema. Following the massive success of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, several filmmakers across the country are planning similar projects.

But what is SS Rajamouli up to? The whole of Indian cinema audience is eagerly looking forward to know what next from the director. Rajamouli is currently on a short break in London after having wrapped up all the promotional activities of Baahubali.

According to certain reports, his next project will be produced by DVV Danayya. It is heard that Rajamouli will opt one of the lead actors from the Telugu industry once the film is locked. His father and writer KV Vijayendra Prasad has pitched a couple of ideas and the director will be finalizing one soon. He will be spending another three to six months to develop it into a full fledged script. It must be noted that Vijayendra Prasad was the writer of Rajamouli’s several blockbuster films including the Baahubali franchise, Eega, Magadheera, Vikramarkudu, Yamadonga etc.

Meanwhile, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is coming towards the end of it’s theatrical run but is still managing to pull a fair amount of audience to the multiplexes. The movie’s Hindi version recently scripted created a new record by becoming the first ever Hindi film to earn Rs 500 crores.

It is the first Indian film to have collected Rs 500 crore in any Indian language in the domestic market. Apart from this, the Prabhas starrer has also become the first film to gross over Rs 300 crores in the twin Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Overall, the worldwide gross has crossed well past the Rs 1500 crore mark.
