India’s first ever movie marathon: 24 hour non-stop shows for Kayamkulam Kochunni in 52 screens!
After months of waiting, Kayamkulam Kochunni is finally releasing this Friday (October 11). The movie directed by Rosshan Andrrews is the biopic of legendary highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni. Nivin Pauly plays the titular role in the movie. Along with Nivin Pauly, the presence of Mohanlal in the cast is the movie’s major selling point. The latter plays an extended cameo role as Ithikkara Pakki.
Mohanlal and Nivin are coming together for the first time, and fans are highly excited about it. Naturally, the pre-release hype is massive and the makers are planning to make the maximum out of it. The movie will be released in over 300 screens across Kerala. The makers have joined hands with multiplex giant Carnival Cinemas for a first of its kind marathon show. The movie will be screened non-stop from 6 AM to 6 PM in 54 screens in the 19 Carnival centres across the state. Though many other films have had 24 hour screenings on the opening day, this is the first time that it is being done on such a large scale.
Kayamkulam Kochunni was initially slated to hit screens during the Onam season but had to be postponed due to the floods. The new release date, October 11, also happens to be the birthday of lead actor Nivin Pauly. This is by far the biggest project in Nivin’s career and releasing it on his birthday makes it even more special for the actor and his fans.
Made on a whopping budget of Rs 45 crores, Kayakulam Kochunni is one of the most expensive movies ever in Malayalam cinema. Gokulam Gopalan has produced the movie under his banner Sri Gokulam Films.
