Karthi and Parthiban were Sachy’s choices for Ayyappanum Koshiyum Tamil remake!
Malayalam filmmaker Sachy passed away on Thursday leaving behind untold stories. In a career spanning 13 years, Sachy hit the peak with his last release ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. The Prithviraj-Biju Menon starrer was a huge success, both critically and commercially. The film is now hot in the remake circles and reports suggest that rights have already been sold for the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions.
There has been lots of speculations about the lead actors in the remake versions. During an interview with Manorama right after the release of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, Sachy was once asked about his choice of actors if the film was remade in Tamil and Hindi. For Tamil, he chose Karthi and Parthiban, while he preferred John Abraham and Nana Patekar in Hindi.
Interestingly, actor Parthiban has posted a screenshot of the news in his Twitter handle. He has tweeted that many had told him that the character played by Biju Menon in the film would suit him. Though he felt happy that Sachy had him in his mind, he was also upset with the director’s unfortunate demise. Parthiban added that he will be watching the film soon and that he would try to fulfill Sachy’s desire. He also sought support from Malayalam film industry to let that happen.
S Kathiresan, who has produced acclaimed films like ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Jigarthanda’ acquired the Tamil remake rights of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. Sasikumar is most likely to play one of the leads. An official announcement with full details regarding the cast and crew is expected to be made soon.
