Kayamkulam Kochunni earns Rs 42 crores from its first week run
The Nivin Pauly starrer Kayamkulam Kochunni continues to do good business at all the release centres. The movie which got released on October 11 has successfully entered its second week of theatrical run. As per official reports from the makers, the movie is nearing the Rs 50 crore mark. From its first seven days of run, the movie has grossed Rs 42 crores. It is well on course to become one of the highest grossing Malayalam movies of all time.
Kayamkulam Kochunni, in all possibility, will become the fastest entrant to the 50 crore club of Mollywood. A simultaneous worldwide release has helped a great deal in the massive initial box office earnings. The movie is performing well not just in Kerala, but in ROI and all major overseas centres as well. In the UAE and GCC region, the movie continues to do tremendous business.
Kayamkulam Kochunni directed by Rosshan Andrrews is the story of Kerala’s legendary highwayman, Kochunni, who was active in the 18th century. Scriptwriter duo Bobby-Sanjay has adapted the movie from the popular folk stories of Kerala and have given their own interpretation to it. Nivin Pauly plays the titular role in the movie and superstar Mohanlal appears in an extended cameo as Ithikkara Pakki. Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony, Priya Anand and Shine Tom Chacko player the other major roles. Made on a budget of Rs 45 crores, it is one of the most expensive movies ever made in Malayalam cinema. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films has produced the movie.
