Mammootty’s upcoming Tamil movie Peranbu continues to be the topic of discussion in social medias. Cinephiles in both the states are eagerly waiting for the movie, which was recently screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). He plays the role of Amudhan, a middle-class father working as a taxi driver abroad. All those who have watched the world premiere at Rotterdam have heaped praise on Mammootty’s performance in the movie.
Recently, Tamil actor Sarath Kumar, who is playing a prominent role in Peranbu, said that the character of Amudhan is something which can be played only by Mammootty. He is quoted saying, “The character of Amudhan played by Mammootty in Peranbu is a role which can be handled by Mammootty alone. When I first heard the movie’s story, I told Ram, that he was absolutely right in casting Mammootty as the hero of the film; that was a perfect choice.”
Sarath Kumar also sounded confident when he said that this year’s National Award would come to Tamil industry through Mammootty. He firmly believes that Mammootty has not portrayed such a strong character in recent times.
Peranbu has Anjali, Baby Sadhana, transgender artist Anjali Ameer, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kaniha and Samuthirakani playing other significant roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music while editing is handled by multiple National award winner Sreekar Prasad. The movie is produced by PL Thennappan under the banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films.
