Mammookka’s command over Telugu language is spellbinding: Prithviraj

Yatra, the YSR biopic starring megastar Mammootty is eagerly awaited by cinephiles across the South. YS Rajasekhara Reddy aka YSR, who is one of the most revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen, enjoys great legacy among the masses there. When Mammootty plays the role of YSR, naturally, expectations are around how he handles the language and steps in as the people’s leader.

Sound modulation has always been Mammootty’s forte and if the movie’s teasers are anything to go by, Mammootty has done some solid homework to get the Telugu diction right. Reiterating the same, Prithviraj has shared his thoughts after watching a couple of scenes in Yatra. The actor has tweeted,

Just saw a couple of scenes of #Yatra . The command #Mammookka has over Telugu, and the subtlety with which he renders it is spell binding. Looks great! @mammukka @YatraMovie PS: I know I’m not the greatest judge of Telugu language! Just saying what I felt

Yatra’ director Mahi V Raghav tweeted back,

Thank you @PrithviOfficial. It’s his effort, command over his craft, love for his work and hunger to get it as perfect as possible made it so authentic. @mammukka

Yatra is not a regular biopic but an event based film. The movie primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003, which was a changing point in his political career. Apart from Mammootty, the movie also stars Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar.

Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy are jointly producing the movie under their banner of 70MM Entertainments. It will be released simultaneously in Telugu and Malayalam on February 8.
