Mammootty has around 10 movies coming up this season!!

Megastar Mammootty is unarguably the most busiest actor in Malayalam industry at present. The 66-year-old actor is making a mockery of his age by committing for multiple projects at a time. Some of them are physically taxing as well, but he seems to unperturbed by all that.

Let’s now take a look at some of his upcoming movies.

Peranbu

Not just the Mammootty fans, but by cinephiles across Kerala and Tamil Nadu are eagerly waiting for this movie. The movie directed by National award winner Ram was recently screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). It was also selected among the 20 ‘Must Watch’ movies at the festival. Trustworthy reports suggest that Mammootty’s performance in the movie has the potential to sweep all the major awards this year.

Uncle

Uncle is expected to be the next release of Mammootty. Actor-writer Joy Mathew is backing this movie and this is also his second work as a scriptwriter after the widely acclaimed ‘Shutter’. Uncle, directed by Gireesh Damodar is said to be a socially relevant film. It is the story of a 17-year-old girl and her dad’s friend. It is about an unusual situation a middle class family is made to face. Recently, the satellite and remake rights for the Tamil and Telugu versions were sold for a hefty price.

Parole

Parole marks the directorial debut of ad filmmaker Sharrath Sandith.
Mammootty plays the role of Sakhavu Alex in this movie, touted to be an intense family drama. It is a performance oriented role as the movie goes through three different phases of his character. Shoot has already been completed earlier this month and is currently in the post-production stage.

Abrahaminte Santhathikal: A Cop Story

Mammootty is currently shooting for this movie, which is the maiden directorial of veteran associate director Shaji Padoor. Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ fame is scripting this cop-action thriller. Anson Paul, Kaniha, Kalabhavan Shajon and Maria John are part of the supporting cast.

Mamankam

Mamankam is a mega budget period action flick which marks the directorial debut of Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of the legendary Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The movie will have some of the best available technicians from across the country. It is based on Mamankam, the medieval fair, where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty will be seen as a Chaaver (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers. The makers have not announced the cast and crew details but a brief schedule is starting on February 10. Regular full fledged shoot will begin by May, this year.

Oru Kuttandan Blog

Noted scriptwriter Sethu turning an independent filmmaker with Oru Kuttandan Blog, a village based fun entertainer starring Mammootty in the lead. The movie has three female leads in Raai Lakshmi, Anu Sithara and Shruthi Ramachandran. Reportedly, the movie is slated on floors on March 5.

Bilal

Much to the excitement of scores of Malayali movie lovers, director Amal Neerad announced Bilal, the second part of his cult hit Big B. Mammootty will be once again reprising the brooding stylish gangster’s role. Other details regarding the cast or when they are planning to go on floors have not yet been announced.

Kunjali Marakkar IV

Another big project that is slated to go on floors this year is the much talked about Kunjali Marakkar IV. Santhosh Sivan will be directing this film which is being scripted jointly by TP Rajeev and Shankar Ramakrishnan. August Cinema is funding this big budget project.

Mammootty had recently committed for ‘Kattalan Porinju’, a mass action movie with ‘Oru Mexican Aparatha’ fame Tom Emmatty. The movie is based on a real-life person from Trissur.

National award winners Bobby-Sanjay are scripting a political drama in which Mammootty will be playing the role of a Chief Minister. Santhosh Vishwanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinvaukal’ will be directing the movie.

Rejis Antony, who was one of the directors of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s ‘Oru Second Class Yathra’, is turning independent with ‘Vamban’, a mass action entertainer with Mammootty. Peter Hein and Kanal Kannan will be choreographing the stunts for this movie funded by Sargam Kabeer of Sargam Pictures.

Some of Mammootty’s other films in the pipeline are ‘Anuraga Karikin Vellam’ fame Khalid Rahman’s ‘Unda’, Basil Joseph-Unni R team’s upcoming film also starring Tovino Thomas and Pokkiriraja’s spin-off ‘Raja 2’ with Vysakh and Udhayakrishna.
