Mammootty-Joy Mathew movie titled as Uncle

We had earlier reported that actor turned filmmaker Joy Mathew will be scripting a movie that has Megastar Mammootty in the lead role. Gireesh will be directing this movie, which is titled as Uncle.

Joy Mathew will also play a pivotal character in this movie. More details about the other cast and crew members are not yet known. An official announcement regarding the movie is still awaited.

Joy Mathew debuted as a filmmaker in 2012 through the critically acclaimed Shutter, which he had also scripted. The movie starring Sreenivasan, Lal, Sajitha Madathil and Vinay Forrt in the lead roles was widely appreciated for it’s theme, direction and the natural performance of all the actors. It was screened at several film festivals including IFFK and the International Film Festival of Dubai. The movie was later remade in all major Indian languages including Marathi, Tamil, Tulu, Telugu, Punjabi and Kannada.

Joy Mathew and Mammootty are very good friends for a long time. They have acted together in several movies like Rajadhiraja, Pathemari, Utopiayile Rajavu and Praise The Lord. Expectations are high when the two team up for a movie.

Mammootty, meanwhile is awaiting the release of the highly anticipated revenge thriller The Great Father, directed by debutant Haneef Adeni. The movie is scheduled to hit screens on March 30.

He is currently shooting for 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar’s untitled movie. He has also finished his portions for Puthan Panam directed by ace filmmaker Ranjith. The movie will release during the Vishu season in April. National award winner Ram’s bilingual movie Peranbu is also expected to hit screens soon.

This year, Mammootty has also committed for movies with directors like Shafi, Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev, Vysakh, writer Sethu and cinematographer Shamdat.
