Mammootty’s Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Streetlights to have a Telugu version as well!

Megastar Mammootty’s Streetlights was expected to hit screens this month but was postponed at the last moment. The makers have decided to dub the movie in Telugu and that apparently is the reason for the postponement. Streetlights, which marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Shamdat, is a bilingual made simultaneously in Tamil and Malayalam languages.

Mammootty’s own production house Playhouse Pictures is producing the movie in all three languages. The makers opted to dub the movie in Telugu as they felt that the subject discussed has a wider appeal. Streetlights is a crime thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of an investigating officer.

The recently released posters of the movie featured Mammootty in a stylish avatar. The megastar has pinned high hopes on the film. He decided to produce the film after being impressed with the screenplay. Newcomer Fawaz Muhammed has scripted the movie. The makers have maintained high secrecy about this film which has naturally piqued the curiosity among the audience.

Unlike most bilinguals, Streetlights was shot separately in both languages with different set of actors. The Malayalam verison stars Joy Mathew, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Neena Kurup, Lijomol Jose, Sohan Seenulal, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa and Harish Kanaran among others.

Veteran actor Pandiarajan, his son Prithvi Rajan, Manobala, Black Pandi, Motta Rajendran and some other noted supporting actors feature in the Tamil version. The movie doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters.

Debutant Adarsh Abraham has composed the songs and Iyobinte Pusthakam fame Yakzan Pereira and Neha Nair are handling the background score and. Director Shamdat’s brother Sadat Sainudeen has cranked the camera.

The makers are planning to release the movie simultaneously in all three languages. An official word regarding the exact release date will be given only after the dubbing works for the Telugu version is completed.
