Megastar Mammootty upcoming movies in 2017
Megastar Mammootty has had a mixed year commercially. He had four releases in 2016. He started the year with Puthiya Niyamam, directed by AK Sajan. Upon release, the movie got mixed response from the audience and ended up as an average affair at the box office.
His next release Kasaba came with huge pre release hype. Mammootty was playing a cop after some time and the first look posters piqued the curiosity among the audience. Kasaba set a new opening day collection record in the box office. But some controversies evoked by some sexist remarks in the movie. Kasaba ended up as a decent grosser at box office. His next release White was a commercial disaster. Thoppil Joppan released during the Pooja holidays did good business amidst the Pulimurugan wave.
Mammootty has a slew of movies lined up in 2017. His first release will be the bilingual Peranbu directed by Ram, who earlier made the National award winning movie Thanga Meengal. Anjali is playing the female lead in this movie.
Next on the line is the much expected, The Great Father directed by debutant Haneef Adeni. The movie was initially scheduled to release for Christmas, but was later postponed due to the extensive post production works. This revenge drama also starring Arya, Shaam, Sneha, Mia will release on January 27.
Puthan Panam directed by Ranjith is currently under progress. Mammootty is playing the character Nityananda Shenoy in this movie.
Mammootty has also signed for movies with 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar, scriptwriter turned director Sethu, a film produced by filmmaker Siddique, written by Rafi and directed by Shafi.
Madhupal’s magnum opus Karnan written by P Sreekumar, Ajai Vasudev’s mass entertainer written by Pulimurugan fame Udhayakrishna, ad filmmaker Sarath Sandith’s debut movie and a movie directed by Vinod Vijayan are some of the other movies Mammootty has committed.
So, 2017 has some very exciting movies in store for both Mammootty fans and the common audience.
