Murali Gopy congratulates State Film Award winners; says Maheshinte Prathikaram deserves more

The Kerala State Film Awards were announced recently and and after many years the jury have awarded deserving performers. The public have unanimously appareciated their choices, some of them truly deserves an applause.

Probably this is the first time that the best actor award (Vinayakan) is given for someone who is not the lead of the movie. A debutante (Rajisha Vijayan) has won the best actress award. A woman filmmaker (Vidhu Vincent) has won the best director award for the first time in the history of State Awards.

Every year, after the State Awards are annouced, there is a lot of hue and cry over the jury’s choices and for overlooking the deserving performers. However, there were not many complaints this year.

Dileesh Pothen’s Maheshinte Prathikaram was expected to bag quite a few awards but had to settle for two. Shyam Pushkaran won the award for best original screenplay and the movie was adjudged as the popular film of the year.

Murali Gopy, who has donned several hats as an journalist actor and writer, congratulated the award winners through a post in his official Facebook page. But, he was slightly disappointed at Maheshinte Prathikaram not winning many awards as expected.

Murali Gopy’s post in Facebook reads,

Of the many good movies, which touched the screen last year, ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’ was one that I loved to love, for its sheer candidness and control over craft. Glad to know that Shyam Pushkaran has been given the State Award for the best screenplay writer, for his work. Here’s congratulating him, on his achievement. ?☺️Hearty Congrats to all the other winners too. ☺️?’MP’ deserves more, and, I’m sure, time will give that. ?

Maheshinte Prathikaram featured Fahadh Faasil and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles. The movie was about a sweet revenge tale told with natural humour. The movie produced by Aashiq Abu was a blockbuster success.
