Nivin Pauly’s remembrance note on Rajesh Pillai’s first death anniversary

It has been an year since director Rajesh Pillai left for heavenly abode. The director’s sudden death at the age of 41 on 27 February last year sent shock waves across the industry. He passed away just the day after the release of his last film Vettah, a psychological crime thriller.

Rajesh Pillai shared a deep bond with many actors and Nivin Pauly is one among them. They have worked together in Traffic and Mili. Nivin appeared in a cameo role towards the end of the movie while in Mili he played a supporting and caring friend to Mili, played by Amala Paul.

On the first death anniversary of his dear friend, Nivin shared a photo with him in his Facebook page and captioned it with a moving remembrance note which reads,

In life, sometimes we are fortunate to meet people who walk into our lives, fill it with their love & happiness, and then quietly leave. Rajesh Chetta, you were one such soul. It’s been a year since you left us, but the memories have only become stronger, more precious.

Rajesh Pillai was one of the pioneers who paved way for new age filmmaking in Malayalam. His terrifically executed road movie, Traffic released in 2011 is widely regarded as a path breaking movie.

Take Off, an upcoming movie directed by renowned editor Mahesh Narayanan, is made as tribute to him. Mahesh has worked with the late director in Traffic as an editor and a scriptwriter in Mili.

Take Off is produced by Anto Joseph and Shebin Becker in association with Rajesh Pillai Films. Kunchacko Boban, Parvathy Menon, Fahadh Faasil and Asif Ali play lead roles in the movie which is about the plight of nurses who are trapped in Iraq during the war period. Kunchako Boban, another close friend of Rajesh Pillai worked in the movie without any remuneration.
