Official: Mohanlal in Nivin Pauly’s Kayamkulam Kochunni
For the last few days, social medias were abuzz with reports about Mohanlal playing an important role in Nivin Pauly’s upcoming movie, Kayamkulam Kochunni. Finally, Nivin himself has come out confirming that Mohanlal is indeed a part of the movie. Sharing a photo with Mohanlal in his Facebook page, Nivin has written,

The movie directed by Roshan Andrews directorial is based on the famous highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni, who was active in the 19th century in Travanore. National award winning writer duo Bobby and Sanjay scripted this film after doing research works for close to two years. Priya Anand is playing the female lead while Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh are also part of the cast.
With Mohanlal’s addition, expectations for Kayamkulam Kochunni have gone sky-high among the audience. Reports suggest that the 57-year-old superstar is playing the role of Ithikara Pakki, who is known to be a close friend of Kochunni. It is said to be a brief but very prominent role. Mohanlal recently underwent an amazing body transformation by shedding around 18 kilos. So, his trimmed physique will help perform the ‘kalaripayattu’ portions effortlessly.
Kayamkulam Kochunni also boasts of a strong technical team. The crew includes big wigs like Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, National award winning sound designer PM Satheesh and Firefly Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran. Gopi Sunder is taking care of the music department. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is investing around Rs 15 crores for this movie.
