Mani Ratnam’s latest offering with Dulquer Salmaan as the male lead and Nithya Menon as the female lead and titled OK Kanmani had hit the screens worldwide on the 17th April this year. The film had got mixed reviews from different critics and also from common people but the box office response was just terrific all around. Specially the report from overseas market was superb to say the least and the distributors named Prime Media who released OK Kanmani in the United states said that the response from the audience there has been superb.
In United states the movie was released in around 73 places and in almost all the centers almost all the shows were houseful with heavy returns and the houseful shows still continuing. Prime Media, the distributors tweeted that there is HouseFull shows everywhere at United states. And they also said thanks to the director Mani Ratnam for giving them the biggest hit of their distribution career and they said that they are very much overwhelmed with the response they are getting from all the centers
The popular trade analyst named Taran Adarsh had shared the box office statistics of this film in the United states and he said that the collections were amazing for both the Tamil version of the film and for the Telugu version as well. Taran adarsh shared the collection and it is from Thursday and friday $ 175,795 or rupess 1.10 crore Indian money for the tamil version In the United states. And for the Telugu version named OK Bangaram from Thursday and Friday the film has got $ 73,360 or 45.89 lakhs of Indian Money.
This shows that even before the weekend days of Saturday and Sunday O Kadhal Kanmani has earned a collection of 1. 6 crore from United states from its two language versions and now the wait is for the weekend day collections which is expected to raise to a top level and may create some records as well on the way. The highlight of the film is of course it is a Mani Ratnam film and his partners such as A R Rahman and P C Sreeram. The actors also getting great applause from the audience.
