I opted out of three Tamil films to work in Kayamkulam Kochunni: Priya Anand

Recently, we had reporter about Amala Paul being replaced by Priya Anand in the upcoming period flick Kayamkulam Kochunni. The movie directed by Roshan Andrews stars Nivin Pauly as Kochunni. Shoot for the movie has been progressing in the Kerala-Karnataka border area for sometime now.

Though Amala Paul was initally signed as the female lead, she had opt out due to her busy commitments in Tamil. The recent Chennai rains and few changes in schedule meant that the actress had no other option but to opt out the film.

Meanwhile, Priya Anand is all excited about doing a period film. This is her second film in Malayalam after Ezra and the actress has already started shooting for it. Priya in a recent interview to TOI said that she has pinned high hopes on this film as she left three projects in Tamil to work in this movie. The actress is hoping that her decision to drop other projects for Kayamkulam Kochunni is worth it.

National award winning duo of Bobby and Sanjay are scripting Kayamkulam Kochunni. The movie will explore several unknown aspects of Kochunni’s life from how he became a highwayman to his love life. Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh are also doing significant roles in the movie.

Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, National award winning sound designer PM Satheesh and Firefly Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran, form the strong technical team of Kayamkulam Kochunni. Gopi Sunder is taking care of the music department.

Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is investing around Rs 15 crores for this movie. After the ongoing schedule in Mangalore, the team will be heading straight to Sri Lanka for shooting the remaining portions.
