Director Salim Ahamed has a few words to tell to the audience before the release of the film and the one thing he specifically said that Pathemari is not an offbeat film but a commercial film which will entertain you.

There has been a buzz that it will be a film like Salim Ahamed’s first two films named Adaminte Makan Abu and Kunjananthante Kada. Both those films were class films which gave more importance to the quality of storytelling than making the audience entertain throughout. Even though these films got many awards and critical recognition they did not do good at box office. So Salim Ahamed making it clear this time that Pathemari is an entertainer as well as a film which tells a great story which has depth and relevance.

Salim Ahamed said that the flick tells the story of the life of Gulf Malayalees through 4 different periods. It is almost 50 years now after the Gulf boom had started in Kerala. Many Malayalees went to gulf countries in 1960’s expecting a good life situation and also expecting an income which can provide good living conditions for their family back here in Kerala. Today we can reach there within hours and can return if we do not get what we want. But at that time it will take more than 40 hours journey to reach there and that too without any visa and passport. It was like an adventurous journey and no one is sure about whether they will reach their destiny or not.

Salim Ahamed says that this film is saying a story which has 100% true real story of the life of people who went to the gulf countries and their struggles there. He also said that Mammootty as Pallickal Narayanan in this film had given a great performance as well and his support was crucial for the completion of the film as well. He also appreciated Mammootty for the efforts he take to be the part of good films.
