Peranbu will be a path breaking film from Tamil industry to the world: Director Vignesh Shivan

As informed by us, the Asian premier of director Mammootty’s upcoming Tamil movie Peranbu was held recently at the 21st edition of the prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival. Reportedly, Peranbu had an amazing reception at the festival as critics showered the makers with application. The movie’s director Ram attended the screening and shared photos of the audience response in his Twitter handle.

Retweeting Ram’s tweet, young filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, who has made movies like Naanum Rowdy Thaan and Thaana Serntha Koottam wrote,

Peranbu is one of the most awaited Tamil movies this year. According to trustworthy reports, it is an intense emotional family drama featuring Mammootty as a doting father. Anjali, Sarath Kumar, Baby Sadhana, transgender artist Anjali Ameer, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kaniha and Samuthirakani are also playing significant roles in the movie.

Earlier this year, Peranbu was also screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). Peranbu secured 20th position amongst the 187 films considered for the audience award category at the festival. It was also nominated for the NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award. PL Thennappan is producing the movie under the banner of Sri Rajalakshmi Films. The makers are yet to announce the Indian theatrical release date.
