Pulimurugan to break Titanic’s record

Superstar Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan continues to shatter records. The movie is now within the reach of breaking Hollywood’s all time blockbuster movie Titanic.

Titanic released in 1997 had a theatrical run of 110 days in UAE. This is the longest theaterical run for any movie in UAE. Now, Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan is within a hand’s reach to surpass this record. The action packed entertainer directed by Vysakh hit screens in UAE on November 3. It has now successfully completed 98 days theatrical run in the region. The movie has collected over 25 crores from the UAE box office alone.

Pulimurugan had earlier overhauled the theatrical run of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s blockbuster movie Bhajrangi Bhaijaan. It has also broken the lifetime collections of many blockbuster Bollywood movies including Aamir Khan’s PK, Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year and Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang.

Pulimurugan written by Udhayakrishna and directed by Vysakh is the first and only Malayalam movie to have crossed the 100 crore mark.

Mohanlal played the title character of a wild hunter who is known in the locality for hunting down man eating tigers. The actor’s incredible performance in the action sequences choreographed by Peter Hein was the major highlight of the movie. Pulimurugan also had the best ever VFX works in a Malayalam movie. Apart from Mohanlal, the movie had a host of other supporting actors in Jagapathi Babu, Lal, Bala, Kamalini Mukherjee, Kishore, Vinu Mohan, Siddique, Nandu, Makarand Deshpande, Suraj Venjaramoodu etc.

Tomichan Mulakupadam produced the movie under his banner Mulakupadam
