Pulimurugan pirated copy issue; No more releases in Cinepolis
After the leak of the pirated version of Mohanlal’s all time blockbuster movie Pulimurugan, the union of distributors- Film Distributors Association have decided not to release any more movies in the Cinepolis multiplex in Ernakulam.
The decision was taken on the basis of the forensic reports that were issued after the leak of pirated copies of many movies including Pulimurugan.
The association has said that according to the existing rules if any theatre is involved in piracy issues, there will be no further releases in that theatre. Cinepolis came under the radar after investigations were made on the basis of the pirated copies of Pulimurugan which included theatre versions also.
The piracy cell have been on investigation ever since the censor copy of Premam was leaked. Piracy has been plaguing the industry for a long time now and there are no capable preventive measures currently to control the menace.
Nowadays, new releases are just a touch away with the latest features like Torrents and other similar websites. But a major reason for this fast growing illegal activity is the people’s tendency to watch movies free of cost in laptops and mobile phones.
However, there are exceptional movies like Pulimurugan which deserves a theatrical watch. The massive success of Pulimurugan is an example for that. Even after the pirated versions of the movie were circulating online through many platforms, people thronged the thetares in large numbers to experience the movie in theatres with good picture and sound quality.
This decision by the distributors association and the piracy department sends out a strong message to those theatres which are responsible for the leakage of pirated copies. People who are involved in this business should realize that any movie is a result of sweat and hard work of hundreds of people and that their greed for more money will indirectly affect these people who earn their daily bread by working in the film industry.
