Resul Pookkutty likely to direct the Hindi remake of Premam
Last week we had reported about Arjun Kapoor starring in the Hindi version of blockbuster Malayalam movie Premam. Abhishek Kapoor, who had directed movies like Rock On, Kai Po Che and Fitoor was said to be helming the Hindi version. But latest reports from Bollywood medias suggest that Academy Award winning sound designer Resul Pookkutty is planning to direct this movie.
Resul, who recently turned an actor with ‘The Sound Story’, a movie on Trissur Pooram, has often expressed his plans to direct a movie. It is not yet confirmed if he is directing the Hindi version of Premam but it will be interesting if he takes up the movie. An official announcement regarding the same is expected to be made very soon.Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor is busy with three big projects coming up – Namastey England, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Panipat. Premam will be Arjun’s second South Indian remake after Tevar (Gilli).
Premam directed by Alphonse Puthren is unarguably one of the most popular Malayalam movies in recent years. Released in 2015, the Nivin Pauly starrer became a sensational success all across the South. It was later remade in Telugu with Naga Chaitanya in the lead. Talks were initially on for remaking the movie in Tamil but the idea was later dropped due to the request by the movie’s Tamil fans.
