Sanya Malhotra to star in The Great Indian Kitchen Remake
The widely acclaimed Malayalam film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ is set to be remade in Hindi. Sanya Malhotra has been signed to play the lead role in the film. Arati Kadav of ‘Cargo’ fame is directing the film and actor Harman Baweja is producing it.
Talking about the remake, Harman is quoted saying in a statement, “There is a certain mystic quality attached to The Great Indian Kitchen. The story stays with you well after the film. I wanted to make it for a pan-India audience with the perfect balance between entertainment and content-driven drama. I am super excited to collaborate with Sanya & Arati.”
‘The Great Indian Kitchen’, written and directed by Jeo Baby, is one of the most talked about Malayalam films in recent times. The film won widespread appreciation for its strong commentary against patriarchal norms and oppression against women. Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu played the lead roles in it.
The film is also getting remade in Tamil with the same title. In the Tamil version, Aishwarya Rajesh plays Nimisha’s role and Rahul Ravindran is reprising Suraj’s part. It is directed by R Kannan.
