Thalaivi: Aravind Swami as MGR in Jayalalithaa biopic starring Kangana Ranaut
As we already know, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is starring in the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. AL Vijay is directing the movie, which has been titled as ‘Thalaivi’. Pre-production including casting is getting finalized and the makers are planning to start shooting in October. Besides the Tamil version, there will also be a Hindi version, which has been titled as ‘Jaya’.
Meanwhile, there are reports emerging that Arvind Swami has been approached to play MGR’s role in the film. It must be remembered that, MGR and Jayalalithaa were very close to each other right from their acting days. It was MGR who introduced Jayalalithaa to the world of politics. It is not yet known if Arvind Swamy is a part of the film, but it will be ideal if a towering actor like him is chosen to bring MGR live on screen.
The Jayalalithaa biopic is being scripted jointly by ‘Baahubali’ writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora. Kangana has already started prepping up for the role. She is getting trained in Tamil diction, classical dance and will also be putting on weight. The movie has Nirav Shah cranking the camera and music composed by GV Prakash. Antony will be handling the edits.
