The Priest success has breathed new life to Malayalam film industry: Vysakh
Mammootty’s ‘The Priest’ has taken a fabulous opening at the box office. The film already had massive pre-release hype and it has reflected on the collections. Though the makers are yet to reveal the exact numbers, it is said to have fared better than what was expected. Many from within the industry have thanked Mammootty and the film’s makers for reviving theatre business in the state.
Recently, filmmaker Vysakh took to his social media handle to congratulate the makers for the success. He also added that the success of ‘The Priest’ has breathed new life to Malayalam industry in general. The director also hoped that theatres will continue to have such a festive atmosphere and wished luck for the films that are gearing up for release.
‘The Priest’ directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko is a mystery thriller with supernatural elements in it. While Mammootty plays the titular role, ‘Kaithi’ fame Baby Monica, Nikhila Vimal and Manju Warrier essay other important roles.
Jofin has written the film’s story and screenplay is penned by ‘Kunjiramayanam’ fame Deepu Pradeep and Shyam Menon. It is a technically superior film with top-notch cinematography by Akhil George and thrilling background score by Rahul Raj.
