Tovino Thomas’ upcoming movies in 2018!
2017 is easily the best year in Tovino’s brief acting career. He had five releases this year and all of them were noted by the audience. His first release of the year was Ezra in which he played a cameo role as a cop. After Ezra came Oru Mexican Aparatha, one of the biggest hits of the year. The campus political drama struck a chord with the Malayali youngsters and the movie emerged as a huge success at the box office.
With Godha, Tovino continued his rich form. The Basil Joseph directorial was a fun filled entertainer with wrestling as the backdrop. Godha is easily among the most entertaining films of the year and gave Tovino another hit to his credit. His next release Tharangam was an experimental film made by a set of lesser known names. Though the movie failed to earn the hit tag, Tharangam found appreciation among the critics for its experimental approach.
Tovino has ended the year on a high with his Christams release Mayaanadhi. The romantic thriller directed by Aashiq Abu has stormed its way into the list of best films of the year. Tovino’s performance in the movie is being widely appreciated. Maayanadhi has gradually picked up at the box office thanks to the overflowing positive word of mouth.
In 2018, Tovino has a handful of projects in his kitty. He is making his Tamil debut with a bilingual love story – Abiyude Katha Anuvinteyum. Directed by BR Vijayalakshmi, the movie stars Pia Bajpai as the female lead. The movie is expected to hit screens next month.
Even before the release of his first Tamil film, Tovino has bagged another big project. He is playing the villain in the sequel of Dhanush’s Maari. Sai Pallavi and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar will also be seen in significant roles in the movie directed by Balaji Mohan. Tovino’s character is said to be a very strong one and it will be exciting to see him facing off with Dhanush.
Tovino is collaborating with Dhanush in yet another another film called Maradona. The movie marks the directorial debut of with debutant Vishnu Narayanan, a former associate of Dileesh Pothan, Aashiq Abu and Sameer Thahir. It is scripted by Krishnamoorthy, who has previously assisted directors Lijo Jose Pellissery and Dileesh Pothan Dhanush’s production house Wunderbar Films is funding this movie.
Tovino is currently shooting for Theevandi, a rural entertainer. Debutant TP Fellini is directing this movie scripted by Vini Viswalal. Chandini Sreedharan plays Tovino’s pair in this movie which is said to be a political satire. August Cinema, one of the leading banners in Malayalam film industry, is funding this movie.
Tovino will be teaming up with yet another debutant director, Arun Bose for a movie titled Luca. Ahaana Krishna has been paired opposite Tovino in this movie. Scripted by Arun Bose and Mridul George, Luca is said to be a romantic entertainer and is scheduled to go on floors by mid 2018.
Tovino, who has mostly worked with youngsters, will be seen as the lead in award winning filmmaker Madhupal’s next titled Oru Kuprasidha Payyan. It is a murder-mystrey thriller starring ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame Nimisha Sajayan as the female lead. The makers are planning to start shoot by February.
Besides these above mentioned films, Tovino has also committed for two other big budget projects that are currently in the pre-production stages. VFX Supervisor Sidhil Subramaniam’s directorial debut Chengazhi Nambiar and Oru Mexican Aparatha fame Tom Emmatty’s Hano are the two biggies in the nascent stages.
So altogether, it’s an highly exciting year ahead for Tovino Thomas. By the end of the season, he is certain to extend his fan base and cement his position firmly among the big league actors.
