Vellai Illa Pattadhari 3 is definitely on cards: Dhanush
Vellai Illa Pattadhari aka VIP, released in 2014 is till date one of the biggest hits in Dhanush’s career. Inspired by the massive success of the first part, Dhanush teamed up with his sister-in-law and filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth for its sequel. VIP 2 was released last Friday and it has opened to mixed reviews from the critics.
Most critics are of the opinion that the sequel has failed to match up to the first part and that it could not live up to the huge expectations. However, the critic reviews have had not had a big impact in the box office earnings. The movie has had a good opening weekend collection and is expected to continue rock solid in the coming days also.
Recently, during the promotions of VIP 2, Dhanush revealed that the VIP franchise will have four parts and that VIP 3 is definitely on the cards. They are planning to commence the third part’s shoot by the end of next year and release it in 2019.
Director Soundarya Rajinikanth also confirmed it in a recent interview, “We are already thinking of part 3. I am sure Dhanush has it in his mind. He has kind of mentioned it also earlier. This franchise, the VIP world has the potential to go on and on and on.”
VIP franchise has Dhanush as Raghuvaran, an ambitious civil engineer. Amala Paul, Samuthirakani, Vivek and Hrishikesh were part of both the films. While the first part was funded by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, the sequel was produced by Kalipuli S Thaanu’s V Creations.
