Veteran Malayalam actor Sathar passes away
Malayalam actor Sathar passed away at a private hospital in Aluva on Tuesday morning. The 67-year-old was undergoing treatment for liver related ailments for some time now. His funeral will be be held on Tuesday evening at Padinjare Juma Masjid, Kodungallur.
Sathar was one of the most busiest Malayalam actors in the 1970s and 80s. He made his debut with ‘Bharyaye Avashyamundu’ in 1975 and became a hero next year in ‘Anavaranam’. Though Sathar started his career as a hero, he was more famous for his negative roles. He has also produced a few films.
Besides Malayalam, Sathar has acted in a few Tamil and Telugu films as well. He has acted in almost 300 movies across all three languages. Sathar was last seen in ‘Onnum Onnum Moonu’, an anthology film released in 2015. On his comeback, he was noted for his role in the Aashiq Abu directorial ’22 Female Kottayam’.
Sathar got married to popular actress Jayabharathi in 1979 but later got seperated. Their son Krish J. Sathaar is also an actor, who made his debut with the Mohanlal starrer ‘Ladies and Gentleman’.
