Vijay Deverakonda to join Mammootty in Yatra

Yatra, the biopic on late Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, is one of the most exciting Telugu movies of the year. The movie directed by Mahi Raghav has Malayalam superstar Mammootty playing YSR’s role. There have been a lot of speculations about who will play the crucial role of YSR’s son Jagan Moham Reddy. Names like Suriya and Karthi were doing the rounds for a while before the makers cleared airs.

As per latest reports, Telugu cinema’s current sensation Vijay Deverakonda has been approached to play the role. It is being reported that the actor has already signed for the movie and an official announcement will be made shortly. If it turns out to be true, it will be really exciting to watch Deverakonda and Mammootty together on screen. The former is on a dream run by delivering massive blockbusters like ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Geeta Govindam’. His mettle as an actor has already been proved and sharing screen space with a veteran like Mammootty will be a lifetime moment for him.

Yatra also stars Jagapathi Babu, Suhasini, Rao Ramesh, Anasuya, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar in supporting roles. YSR is one of the most popular and revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. Yatra, according to the makers, is an event-based film which primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003.

Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi are jointly producing the movie under their banner of 70MM Entertainments. Yatra is slated to hit screens on December 21, the birthday of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
