Vishal to direct Thupparivalan 2 after Mysskin walks out
We had earlier reported about director Mysskin helming a sequel for his 2017 detective-thriller film ‘Thupparivalan’. Vishal is once again reprising the lead role of detective Kaniyan Poongundran. He is also producing the film under his banner Vishal Film Factory. The team had been shooting in UK for the last few months but there arouse tension within the camp after budget shot up.
It is reported that Vishal and Mysskin have now had a fall out resulting in the latter walking out of the project. While shooting in London, the team had faced several obstacles related to acquiring permissions to shoot. By then, budget had increased beyond their expectations. Mysskin has now demanded Rs 40 crores more than the initially planned budget for the next schedule, which hasn’t gone down well with Vishal.
A recent discussion between the two ended in Mysskin opting out of ‘Thupparivalan 2’. It is being widely reported that Vishal will be directing the remaining portions of the film. When asked about the fallout over budget, Mysskin’s response to Times of India was hilariously sarcastic.
He is quoted saying, “No, I didn’t ask for 40 crores. I’ve asked 400 crores. I have finished 50 per cent of the film in 100 crore. I have asked for another 100 crores for the rest of the film. For the climax portion alone, which will feature a scene of Vishal jumping from a satellite, I want an additional 100 crores. So yes, I have asked for 400 crores.”
