Operation Arapaima: Tini Tom plays a transgender in his debut Tamil movie
Tini Tom is one actor who has not done justice to his potential. Apart from a few negative roles, he has most often been confined to doing sidekick comedy roles. Along with his acting, he is also doing a few television shows. Now, Tini Tom is all set to foray into Tamil film industry with an extremely unconventional role.
In his debut Tamil movie, Operation Arapaima, Tini Tom plays the role of a transgender in the film. Malayali actor Rahman plays the lead in the movie, touted to be a thriller. The movie is directed by Prash, a former associate of Major Ravi and TK Rajeev Kumar. First schedule of the movie has already been completed.
Tini Tom is excited about doing such a highly challenging role in his maiden Tamil movie itslef. He said,
“As I am into mimicry, I had a confidence that I can handle it well. But, it was indeed challenging to turn someone of my size into the get up of a transgender person. Both the director and Rahman sir were sure that I can do it and strongly recommended me for this role. As I watch a lot of Tamil movies, I had no issues with the languages. Moreover, choreographer Kala master’s nephew Aravind, who is also part of the cast, helped me with it.”
Operation Arapaima has Rahman playing the role of a naval officer. Interestingly, the movie’s director was a former employee in the coast gaurd. Arapaima is said to be the largest fresh water fish, which is found in the Amazon river. The movie’s protagonist has similarities to the nature of this fish, which is friendly if you treat it well and can turn violent if not.
Abhinaya of ‘Nadodigal’ fame plays the female lead while Anoop Chandran and Balaji Sharma are also part of the supporting cast. The movie has a lesser known technical crew. Lawell is the cinematographer and Rakesh Brahmanandan is the music department.
