Kerala Box Office : Sakhavu Collection Report 21 Days

Nivin Pauly’s first release of the year Sakhavu continues to do average business in the box office after three weeks of it’s release. The movie, directed by award winning filmmaker Sidharth Siva is a political drama featuring Nivin Pauly in a dual role.

Sakhavu opened to positive reviews from the critics and common audience but unfortunately failed to cash in big on the Vishu holidays. According to latest reports from trade sources, Sakhavu has managed to gross Rs 12.10 crores from the Kerala box office. Unlike Nivin Pauly’s last few movies, Sakhavu has not had a great impact in the box office.

The actor enjoys a huge popularity outside Kerala and that has reflected on the box office returns of his previous few movies. However, Sakhavu did not have that kind of reception. The movie is centred around communism and it’s ideologies, which appeals majorly to the Malayali audience. Also, the massive release of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in Kerala has affected Sakhavu’s prospects at the box office.

Nivin has essayed a dual role in the movie and his performance as Sakhavu Krishnan was widely appreciated. Critics rated it as his career best performance. Sakhavu also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, Aparna Gopinath, Gayathri Suresh, Sudheesh, Maniyan Pilla Raju, Sreenivasan, Binu Pappu and Baiju in pivotal roles. The movie was produced by B Rakesh under the banner Universal Cinema.
