64th National Awards; Rakshadikari Baiju Oppu team congratulates Dileesh Pothen

National Film Awards for the year 2016 was announced recently. Malayalam cinema won a total of seven awards in the feature film section and two in the non feature category.

Maheshinte Prathikaram was selected as the best Malayalam movie of the year while the movie’s scriptwriter Shyam Pushkaran was awarded in the best original screenplay category.

Maheshinte Prathikaram was the story of Mahesh Bhavana’s sweet revenge told with humour in the backdrop of Idukki. Shyam Pushkaran’s superbly crafted screenplay, Dileesh Pothen’s meticulously detailed filmmaking and Shyju Khalid’s realistic frames were all backed with terrific performances from Fahadh Faasil, Alencier Ley, Soubin Shahir, Aparna Balamurali and many other uncredited actors.

The team of Biju Menon’s upcoming movie Rakshadikari Baiju Oppu congratulated Dileesh Pothen for winning the National award. Maheshinte Prathikaram was the directorial debut of Dileesh Pothan.

Dileesh is playing an important role in Rakshadikari Baiju Oppu, directed by Ranjan Pramod. The movie, bank rolled by 100th Monkey Movies Pvt Ltd is slated to hit screens next month.
