After Kayamkulam Kochunni, Rosshan Andrrews and Nivin Pauly to team up for ‘The Pirates of Diego Garcia’

Nivin Pauly is currently awaiting the release of Kayamkulam Kochunni. This period flick directed by Rosshan Andrrews is touted to be Nivin’s biggest film till date. It was shot for over 161 days in multiple schedules on a budget of Rs 45 crores. Malayali audience are eagerly looking forward to the movie, which is slated to hit screens later this month.

Last year, we had reported about Nivin Pauly and Rosshan Andrrews planning to join hands for another big budget film after Kayamkulam Kochunni. Rosshan first revealed about such an idea while Kochunni’s shoot was about to kick-start. While many believed the project to have been dropped, the director has now informed that it is still on and script works for the same are progressing.

Titled as ‘The Pirates of Diego Garcia’, this period flick is being scripted by the director himself. Interestingly, this will be Rosshan’s maiden outing as a scriptwriter. Unni R was initially supposed to script the movie but he later opted out due to some unknown reasons.

As the title The Pirates of Diego Garcia suggests, it is a movie set in the backdrop of sea. It is said to be a survival story based on some true events that occurred in Kerala. The movie will reportedly explore some facets of Capri mythology. Like Kayamkulam Kochunni, this project is also being planned on a big canvas and talks are already on with a foreign company for its production. Apparently, Nivin listened to both the scripts at same time and immediately agreed to be part of it.

Rosshan Andrrews, however, did not reveal when he is planning to start shooting the movie. His next will be a Hindi film, which is a remake of one of his hit flicks in Malayalam. He has also committed to do a cop story in Malayalam, which is being scripted by Bobby-Sanjay. Nivin is also busy has a handful projects in his kitty.

We can expect an official word on The Pirates of Diego Garcia after the release of Kayamkulam Kochunni.
