After Vaisali, Babu Antony to play a king once again in Ponniyin Selvan

Babu Antony had recently informed that he is playing an important character in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. The film boasts of one of the biggest star cast ever in Indian cinema with actors from various industries in it. Babu Antony will be seen playing an ancient king in the film. The last time he played a similar role was in Bharathan’s ‘Vaisali’, which got released back in 1988. In ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, he essays a character named Kotikan. It is learnt that he will be present in both the parts of the film. This is his second outing with Mani Ratnam after the 1990-released film ‘Anjali’.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ cast comprises of names like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Vikram Prabhu, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Lal, Rahman, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Kishore and Ashwin Kakumanu.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on the historical Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Director Mani Ratnam has adapted the screenplay along with Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. Music is by AR Rahman and Ravi Varman wields the camera.
