Alphonse Puthren picks his recent favorite Malayalam films!
Though just two-films old, Malayali filmmaker Alphonse Puthren commands a big fan following. It has been 5 years since he made the sensational ‘Premam’, but he is yet to direct another film. Though he has not been in the limelight, Alphonse is very much aware of the happenings in the industry. He feels it’s important to stay updated and adapt according to the changes.
In a recent interview to FC, when asked to choose some recent Malayalam films that he enjoyed watching, Alphonse replied that he considers himself to part of the normal audience and not the festival kind. He is quoted saying,
“Kumbalangi Nights’ had many good characters. I liked ‘Ayyapanum Koshiyum’, ‘Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu’, ‘Driving License’, ‘Kunjiramayanam’ and ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ in Malayalam.”
From Tamil, he picked superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Pettah’, Ajith’s ‘Viswasam’, ‘Maanagaram’ and the Arun Vijay starrer ‘Thadam’.
Alphonse meanwhile is prepping up for his next. He is learning music from online sources as the film is a musical. The director hasn’t finalized the cast yet.
