Anaswara Rajan starrer Vaanku release date announced

As theatres have resumed functioning in Kerala, release dates of new Malayalam films are being announced. ‘Vaanku’ starring ‘Thanneermathan Dhinangal’ fame Anaswara Rajan will be hitting screens on January 29. The film, which marks the directorial debut of VK Prakash’s daughter Kavya Prakash, has also been selected for screening at the 25th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). It is among the 12 films selected in the Malayalam Cinema Today section.

‘Vaanku’ is adapted from a popular short story of the same name written by Unni R. Shabna Muhammed has adpated Unni R’s story to a screenplay format. The film is about a college-going girl’s desire to become a muezzin like her father and call the azan against the will of the religious fundamentalists.

Vineeth plays Anaswara’s father in the film. Other known faces in the cast include Major Ravi, Srikanth Murali, ‘Guppy’ fame Nandana Varma, Joy Mathew, Thesni Khan, Prakash Bare, Gopika Ramesh, Meenakshi Unnikrishnan, Shrikanth Murali and Sarasa Balussery.

‘Vaanku’ is produced by Sirajudheen K P and Shabeer Path Banner. Major Ravi’s son Arjun Ravi is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Ouseppachan. 7J Films and Shimoga Creations are presenting the film in association with Trends Ad Filmmakers Pvt Ltd.
