‘And The Oskar Goes To’ (ATOGT) is currently in its second week of theatrical run and continues to do well. The movie is winning hearts for its portrayal of a filmmaker’s life. The Salim Ahamed directorial tells the story of a film taking its maker to the Oscars. Critic reviews have all been largely positive with special mention for Tovino’s performance.

Recently, filmmaker-actor Basil Joseph wrote a note on his social media handle after being impressed by the movie. He called it a genuine film that should not be missed from theatres. Being someone who had no filmy background, Basil had to sweat hard to work his way up and in that sense, ATOGT was highly relatable for him and it moved him to tears. Basil’s post reads,

‘And The Oskar Goes To’ is a movie that should not be missed in theatres. It’s full of heart, emotional, and brilliantly performed by the actors. And being a person working in the movie industry, there were so many instances and characters in the movie which I could relate so much to, some of them really made my eyes wet too. And Tovino Thomas aliya, it was a pleasure watching you perform with so much of ease, making your character look so real and memorable. And finally, Salim Ahamed ikka, realizing that this is mostly a true story of yours, adds more respect to you, sir, not just as a filmmaker, but as a human being too.
