AR Rahman’s nephew AH Kaashif to make his Malayalam debut with Pathinettam Padi

Actor-writer Shanker Ramakrishnan’s directorial debut ‘Pathinettam Padi’ is an interesting film for many reasons. Its lead cast comprises of teenage actors from all fourteen districts of the state. Besides that, it has some big star presence in Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Unni Mukundan. The movie also marks the Malayalam debut of talented young composer AH Kaashif.

Director Shanker Ramakrishnan has written a note in his Facebook handle, which reads,

Humbled and Grounded… here is launching the first ever Song from our film Tomorrow @ 7 pm! The musical journey was long and arduous. Proud to share the fact that we have a young super talent Music Director behind this first song. AH Kaashif is the nephew of maestro AR Rahman. The younger has worked with his uncle as a music producer and has contributed to the background score and songs in films like ‘Mersal’, ‘Beyond the Clouds’ and ‘Sarkar’. Kaashif turned an independent composer earlier this year with the Jyothika starrer ‘Kaatrin Mozhi’.

It will be interesting to see what Kaashif has in store for Malayali music lovers. The first single from ‘Pathinettam Padi’ will be released today (May 7) through Mammootty’s official social media handle. Shahabaz Aman has composed the track, and lyrics is penned by Vinayak Sasikumar.
