Asianet bags Love Action Drama satellite rights for record price!

As we had reported earlier, actor Dhyan Sreenivasan is turning a director with a fun entertainer starring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara. The movie titled ‘Love Action Drama’ (LAD) was initially planned is set to go on floors by May. Actor Aju Varghese is venturing into production by funding this movie jointly with Vishak Subramaniam under the banner of Funtastic Films.

Market leader Asianet has acquired the satellite rights of the movie even before the commencement of shoot. Reportedly, they have bagged the rights for a record price. They also have included a clause by which the rates will go higher if the movie runs for more than 25 days in 30 centres. That speaks volumes about the kind of expectations surrounding this movie. Nivin and Nayanthara teaming up for the first time is one of the major attractions of LAD.

Dhyan himself has scripted this movie, which is actually a modern day take on the yesteryear hit film ‘Vadakkunokkiyanthram’, directed by his father Sreenivasan. Interestingly, the lead characters in LAD are also named as Dineshan and Shobha. Following the announcement of the title and character names, it was speculated that the movie will be a spoof.

However, Dhyan has clarified that it is not a spoof but a romantic comedy. Nivin Pauly’s character will have a few similarities to Dineshan of Vadakkunokkiyanthram, but there will be no other resemblance. Aju Varghese and Urvashi will also be seen in prominent roles in the movie. Nivin will be losing weight before LAD goes on floors as character demands a youthful look.
