Babu Antony to star alongside Akshay Kumar in Laaxmi Bomb

Recently, actor Babu Antony had revealed that he will be sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar in an upcoming film, but he didn’t divulge the details. It is now learnt that the two will be seen together in ‘Laaxmi Bomb’, which is the official remake of blockbuster Tamil film ‘Kanchana’ aka ‘Muni 2’.

Babu Antony played a brief-yet-crucial role in ‘Kanchana’. He will be reprising the same role in ‘Laaxmi Bomb’. This is his sixth film in Bollywood. He made his Hindi debut in 1988 with ‘Hathya’. ‘Ek Diwana Tha’, the remake of Gautham Menon’s blockbuster film ‘Vinnai Thandi Varuvaaya’, was his last outing in Hindi.

‘Kanchana’, the second installment in the ‘Muni’ franchise, revolves around the series protagonist, Raghava, and a transgender ghost. The novel element of a transgender being shown in good light was the movie’s USP. Veteran actor Sarath Kumar’s stellar performance as the transgender got widespread appreciation.

Raghava Lawrence, who directed and starred in ‘Kanchana’, is helming the remake version as well. Writer-director Farhad Samji has adapted the script to suit the sensibilities of the Hindi audience. In the Hindi version, Akshay Kumar is reprising the role played by Raghava Lawrence. Kiara Advani is the female lead. The makers are yet to reveal who will be essaying the transgender part.
